From a Birmingham Press reader.

Tina Mackay

Tina MacKay, for many years an active trade unionist in Birmingham and the West Midlands, died last Thursday in tragic circumstances. With an infectious zest for life, a powerful sense of social justice and a sharp mind, Tina made a valuable contribution to the Labour movement in the city and made many friends in Birmingham which she always thought of as home.

She left the city to become a lecturer for the MSF union teaching negotiating and campaigning skills, before becoming a regional official for Unite representing London NHS staff. She was particularly active in fighting this government’s reforms of the health service.

A woman who loved life with a passion and loved sharing her passion for life with others, her death has shocked her family and friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held this Saturday at Lauderdale House

Waterlow Park, Highgate Hill, London N6 5HG at 12noon – if you come bring one flower.

Following the service there will be a picnic in the grounds, because Tina loved picnics For those who knew her but cannot be present the family simply ask that you think of Tina at 12 noon.
