All aboard that’s going aboard!
Nightclub owners putting Birmingham on the map.
A Birmingham nightclub is bussing hundreds of revelers from 16 cities and towns into Southside to boost business.
The club is sending out 16 coaches to party-goers from Leicester, Nuneaton, Manchester, Stoke, Shrewsbury, Telford, Wolverhampton, Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Tamworth, Bristol, Worcester, Gloucester, Northampton and Coventry.
Billed as The Midlands Big Gay Night Out, the event on October 20, will help put the venue on the map as one of the country’s super clubs.
Lawrence Barton, club owner, said: “The idea of this event is to get clubbers into the city and show them what the Nightingale has to offer as well as other bars and venues in Southside.”
Last month the club reported a massive boost in the numbers of clubbers going through its doors. Visitors to the club were up by 25 per cent over the past ten months, they said.
Barton rescued the Kent Street club after it went into administration in November last year.
The Birmingham businessman, whose family business GB Holdings Ltd runs five other venues in Southside, has pledged to invest more than £1 million in the club over the next three years.
He added: “The club now regularly attracts in excess of 1,000 clubbers most Saturdays which we hope indicates Birmingham is establishing itself as a destination of choice for clubbers from other parts of the country.”
